Privacy Policy

Effective 24 September 2026

The Blind Pool is published by Fairwood Media Group, LLC, 1270 Avenue of the Americas, 7th Floor, Suite 1012, New York, NY 10020, United States. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language rather than the usual thing.

The short version

We collect an email address when you choose to give us one, so that we can send you the newsletter. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it with advertisers. You can leave at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, and you can ask us to delete your record entirely.

What we collect

If you subscribe. Your email address, and anything else you choose to tell us on the signup form, such as your role or organisation. Those additional fields are optional and the newsletter works the same either way. Our email provider also records the date, time and IP address of your signup, and whether you open or click our emails. We keep the signup record because it is our evidence that you asked to hear from us.

If you only read the site. Nothing that identifies you. We run no analytics, no advertising pixels and no tracking cookies. Our host keeps ordinary server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operational purposes.

Who else is involved

Three third parties necessarily see some data when the site and newsletter operate:

These are service providers acting on our instructions, not partners we sell data to. Every headline on this site links to a third-party publisher; once you click, you are on their site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.

Why we are allowed to hold it

If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, our lawful basis for sending you the newsletter is your consent, which you gave by subscribing and can withdraw at any time. Our basis for keeping server logs and for basic security is our legitimate interest in running the site safely.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription record for as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we retain a minimal record — your email address and the fact that you opted out — so that we do not email you again by mistake. If you have not opened an email in a long while we may ask whether you still want it, and remove you if we hear nothing.

What you can ask us to do

Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to processing, to restrict it, to receive your data in a portable form, and to complain to your data protection regulator. If you are in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA it is your national supervisory authority.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law.

To exercise any of this, or to ask anything about this policy, email privacy@theblindpool.com. We will respond within thirty days.

Where your data goes

We are based in the United States and our providers store data there. If you subscribe from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US.

Children

This is a trade publication for investment professionals. It is not intended for anyone under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will say so in the newsletter rather than hoping you re-read this page.

One more thing

The Blind Pool is a curation of other people's journalism, with our own short summaries. It is published for information and context. It is not investment advice, and nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell anything.
